Banana Bread

Have some bananas on the verge of being over ripe? Turn them into some delicious banana bread with this simple and delicious recipe.

Ingredients:

Bread-
2 Cups Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup cold putter chopped into pieces
1 cup mashed bananas (approx 3 bananas)
1 cup nuts (optional)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground ginger

Crunch Topping-
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
3/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix well and crumble on top of bread before baking

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine Flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
Cut in butter until crumbly
Stir in remaining ingredients (except for topping)
Pour into a greased 9X5X3 pan
Top with crunch topping
Bake for 70 min. at 350
Once finished flip out of pan immediately and cool on wire rack

Creating a Coupon Binder

The key to couponing success lies in the organization. Taking the time to create and maintain a coupon binder will pay off during your shopping trips.

To get started you need:

•  A large three ring binder
• Three ring baseball card protector sheets
• Dividers
•  First, decide how you want to divide your coupons. Beginners may want to start with just a few categories, and then add more as you obtain and maintain more coupons. Category ideas include dairy, cosmetics, produce, snacks and frozen foods. Place each divider into your binder followed by several baseball card protector sheets. Baseball card sheets work well for couponing because they are clear, allowing you to see your coupons and the card slots are the perfect size for most coupons. I like to arrange my binder sections based on store layout, typically it goes:
• Produce
• Dairy
• Refrigerated (meats, cheeses etc.)
• Bread
• Prepared Meals and Sides
• PB & J
• Soup
• Baking/Seasonings
• Cereal/Fruit Snacks/ Breakfast Goods
• Soda and Snacks
• Frozen Foods

Remember to put your name and contact information on the inside of your binder. You will be taking this binder on shopping trips with you so be sure that you can be contacted in case you leave it in the shopping cart. You don't want those hours of clipping to go to wast! A pencil pouch is a useful addition to your coupon binder; equip your pouch with scissors, pencils and a calculator. This allows you to keep all of your couponing tools in one place. The more organized you keep your coupon binder the more likely you are to stick to couponing and see big pay offs at the check-out lane.

Carroll County Farm Museum "Old World Country Christmas"

The Carroll County Farm Museum 2011 holiday tour will have holiday music, Living History Center self guided tours, food and craft sales, farm house tours, Santa visits and mule-pulled wagon rides on the weekends. Admission price is $2.50 for patrons 7 years old and above and free for children 6 and under. "A Christmas Carol" at Carroll County Arts Center

The Maryland Ensemble Theatre will be performing Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol," at the Carroll County Arts Center in downtown Westminster. Production takes place on December 9, 2011 at 8 p.m. and December 10th, 2011 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors 60 and over and children 18 and under.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

I get the best reviews whenever I make these bars and yet this no-bake recipe could not be simpler.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 pkg (12 squares) Semi-Sweet baking chocolate

Line a 13X9 pan with aluminum foil, folding the ends over the pan
Melt the butter in a large bowl
Add sugar, graham crumbs and peanut butter to melted butter
Mix well, spread and press into the bottom of the pan
Melt chocolate and pour over peanut butter mixture (if melting in the microwave stir often and be careful not to burn, you can also melt in double boiler)
Cut partially into squares
Refridgerate for 1 hour
Cut and serve

I like to serve the bars cold so I keep them in the fridge, be careful on hot days because the chocolate will melt!

Cinnamon Milk Gift Jars

Sure you've heard of hot chocolate, chai tea, lattes and even peppermint mocha's but have you ever tried hot cinnamon milk? This recipe is delicious and easy, finish your jar off with a nice ribbon and a note and they make perfect and inexpensive gifts. Great for teachers, bus drivers and co-workers.

For a 1 pint jar mix:
1 cup of powdered milk
1/2 cup french vanilla coffee powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

I shake the ingredients in some Tupperware and then use a funnel to pour into the jar. To make a cup of cinnamon milk mix 1/3 cup of mix with 1 cup of hot water. Enjoy!
